Business School Overview

Carnegie Mellon University (Tepper)The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University offers graduate programs in these departments and concentrations: accounting, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, international business, marketing, management information systems, production/operations management, organizational behavior, and quantitative analysis/statistics and operations research. Its tuition is full-time: $55,800 per year; part-time: $1,815 per credit; and executive: $80,000 total program. At graduation, 75.7 percent of graduates of the full-time program are employed.

M.B.A. students can elect to study the General Management curriculum or follow one of seven specialized M.B.A. tracks, such as Financial Engineering and Technology Leadership. The school also offers a part-time M.B.A. program, a distance learning M.B.A., an executive M.B.A. program, and Ph.D. degrees.

carneThrough electives, students in the General Management curriculum can complete concentrations like accounting and communications. Students can earn a joint M.B.A./J.D. through the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. Students can also complete joint degrees in computational finance, software engineering, healthcare policy and management, public policy and management, and civil and environmental engineering.

Students can gain an international experience during Global Treks, which are customized, two-week trips, or the Transitional Economies study abroad program, which lasts two mini-semesters. Close to three-quarters of students live in Pittsburgh’s Shadyside neighborhood, a mile from the Carnegie Mellon campus.

Notable alumni of the Tepper School of Business include David Coulter, former chairman and CEO of Bank of America Corp., and Dina Dublon, former executive vice president and chief financial officer of JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Residents of Certain States are Ineligible to Apply for Enrollment in Courses and Programs Delivered via Distance Education: For Carnegie Mellon courses and programs delivered via distance education only: Carnegie Mellon is not able to accept students who are residents of Alabama, Arkansas and Minnesota for enrollment in courses and programs delivered via distance education because it has not applied for or received authorization from these states to deliver courses and programs via distance education to residents of these states. Carnegie Mellon has not currently applied for or received authorization from these states because Carnegie Mellon has determined that the administrative and other requirements to obtain and maintain authorization for its distance education courses and programs that would otherwise be delivered to residents of these states, including the fees charged by these states and the additional administrative costs associated with doing so, are disproportionately burdensome, excessive and/or prohibitive, at least at the present time.

ATTN Residents of AL, AR and MN: If you are a resident of Alabama, Arkansas or Minnesota, you are not eligible to apply for enrollment in Carnegie Mellon courses and programs delivered via distance education. Note, however that residents of Alabama, Arkansas and Minnesota are eligible to apply for enrollment in all other Carnegie Mellon courses and programs, including those offered at any of its various campus locations.
